Pomona does not have its own city prosecutor for misdemeanors. The Los Angeles County District Attorney prosecutes them.
The District Attorney’s Pomona Branch Office is in Room 201, on the second floor of Pomona Courthouse South.
Arresting agencies
Pomona police and the CHP
On city streets, DUI arrests are usually made by the Pomona Police Department, 490 West Mission Boulevard. The front desk is open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., phone (909) 620-2155. The non-emergency line, (909) 622-1241, answers 24 hours a day.
On freeways, arrests are usually made by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The CHP Baldwin Park Area page lists Interstate 10 and the interchange of State Route 57 and State Route 60. It does not list the cities it patrols.
That office is at 14039 Francisquito Avenue, Baldwin Park, phone (626) 517-8500.
Your license
DMV Driver Safety
A DMV hearing is separate from Pomona Courthouse South. A Driver Safety hearing officer, not a judge, decides whether the suspension is upheld or set aside.
The request is due within 10 days of receiving the DMV notice. The notice is usually given at the arrest. If the notice came by mail, the DMV allows 14 days from the date of the notice.
Use the Driver Safety phone line, (833) 543-7703, or the DMV’s online Driver Safety portal. Hearings may be held remotely or in person.
AFTER A POMONA POLICE TOW
Getting your car back
Pomona police list these steps for releasing a stored vehicle. The post-storage deadline below is separate from the DMV hearing deadline.
WHO MUST COME
The owner and a licensed driver
The registered owner must come with a valid government photo ID. A licensed driver must also be present.
WHAT TO BRING
Registration and unpaid tickets
Bring proof of current registration or a valid temporary moving permit. Any unpaid parking citations must be paid first.
AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Get the written release
Pay the administrative release fee and get a written release from the Pomona Police Department. Then claim the car at the storage yard. The owner pays all towing and storage fees.
WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE MAILING
A post-storage hearing
The owner can ask at a post-storage hearing whether the storage of the car was valid (Vehicle Code 22852). The request is due within 10 days after the “Notice of Stored Vehicle” is mailed. The hearing is held within 48 hours of the request, not counting weekends and holidays. Information about this process is available 24 hours a day at (909) 620-2081.
POMONA POLICE CHECKPOINTS
Four checkpoints in 2026
The Pomona Police Department announced DUI and driver’s license checkpoints on four Friday nights in 2026: April 24, May 1, August 28, and September 11.
Each one was set for 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. within city limits. The announcements did not give a street location.
The department says checkpoints are placed where DUI-related crashes and arrests have happened before. Officers look for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and check drivers for proper licensing.
The checkpoints are funded by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
OUR POMONA RECORD
Our Pomona Courthouse result
Our Success Stories page lists one case at the Pomona Courthouse, from 2015. The DUI charge was dismissed, and the client pleaded to what is often called a “wet reckless.” It is a reckless driving conviction where the prosecutor states that alcohol or drugs were involved (Vehicle Code 23103.5). A wet reckless still counts as a prior if there is a new DUI arrest within 10 years.
2015
DUI charge dismissed; wet reckless plea
Allegation: 0.08 Blood w/ Speed Enhancement
Disposition: DUI dismissed; Wet Reckless plea
The results described above were dependent on the facts of each case. Results will differ if based on different facts. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome in your case.
