Alhambra DUI Lawyer
The Alhambra Courthouse hears criminal cases, but since 2013 traffic tickets from its area have been filed at the Pasadena Courthouse.
ALHAMBRA DUI DEFENSE
How an Alhambra DUI case begins
Alhambra shares the court’s Northeast District with Pasadena. The district has two courthouses, one in each city.
DUI cases from Alhambra are generally heard at the Alhambra Courthouse on West Commonwealth Avenue. The court and date on your citation or release papers are the ones that control.
Our published results do not include any cases at the Alhambra Courthouse. Our only office is in Los Angeles, at 3810 Wilshire Blvd.
LANGUAGE ACCESS
Help in Mandarin and at the court
Attorney Jeff Yeh speaks English and Mandarin Chinese, along with basic Japanese and Korean; a Japanese-speaking secretary and a Korean interpreter can help when needed.
The Superior Court provides a courtroom interpreter at no cost to you. At public counters, bilingual staff or a telephone interpreter can help for free.
The Alhambra Courthouse page lists interpretation services in more than 90 languages.
When we checked in September 2026, the California Courts self-help page on arraignments was offered in English and Spanish only.
The DMV’s California Driver’s Handbook, which has a section on alcohol and drugs, is available in nine languages, including Chinese.
The City of Alhambra website has a machine translation tool that includes Chinese. Machine translations are not official, so check dates and deadlines in the English original.

Prosecutor
District Attorney, Alhambra Branch
Misdemeanors in Alhambra are prosecuted by the District Attorney. Its Alhambra Branch Office is inside the courthouse, at 150 West Commonwealth Avenue.
Neighboring Pasadena works differently. Pasadena is one of the 10 cities in the county with its own prosecutor for local misdemeanors.
Arresting agencies
Police and highway patrol
On city streets, DUI arrests are usually made by the Alhambra Police Department, 211 South First Street. Its phone number is (626) 570-5151.
On Interstate 10, arrests are usually made by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The CHP East Los Angeles Area office is at 1601 Corporate Center Drive, Monterey Park, phone (213) 987-0520.
Its page lists Interstate 10, State Route 60, and Interstate 710. The page does not name Alhambra, so check the agency shown on your paperwork.
Your license
The DMV hearing
Your driver’s license is handled by the DMV, not by the Alhambra Courthouse. A Driver Safety hearing officer holds the hearing.
To get a hearing before the suspension takes effect, ask within 10 days of receiving the DMV notice. Officers usually give that notice at the arrest.
Call DMV Driver Safety at (833) 543-7703, or use the online Driver Safety portal. Hearings may be held remotely or in person.
TWO COURTHOUSES, TWO KINDS OF CASES
DUI cases at Alhambra, tickets at Pasadena
On May 13, 2013, the Alhambra Courthouse stopped accepting traffic and non-traffic infractions. Since then, they have been filed at the Pasadena Courthouse, 300 East Walnut Street, Pasadena.
The City of Alhambra’s own FAQ also sends traffic questions to the Pasadena Courthouse.
A DUI is a criminal charge, not an infraction. The Alhambra Courthouse still hears criminal cases, so an Alhambra DUI is generally heard there.
If a paper you receive names Pasadena, check whether it is about an infraction or about the DUI case itself.
ALHAMBRA POLICE ENFORCEMENT
Grants, checkpoints, and patrols
On October 16, 2024, the Alhambra Police Department announced a $148,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The grant ran from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
The department said the money would pay for DUI checkpoints, patrols looking for impaired drivers, and other traffic safety work.
With OTS funding, the department announced a DUI checkpoint for June 27, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. The location was not published in advance.
Earlier announcements covered checkpoints on June 23 and September 8, 2023. When we checked in September 2026, no 2026 checkpoint had been posted on the city’s police news page.
