Prosecutor
District Attorney, not City Attorney
In Glendale, the District Attorney handles misdemeanor DUI charges as well as felonies. Its felony work covers the whole county.
The Glendale City Attorney’s prosecution work covers violations of the city’s Charter and ordinances (the Glendale Municipal Code).
The District Attorney’s Glendale Area Office is in the courthouse building, Room 280.
Your license
DMV Driver Safety
The license case is not handled at the courthouse. A DMV Driver Safety hearing officer decides it.
To get a hearing before the suspension takes effect, ask within 10 days of receiving the DMV notice. The notice is usually given at the arrest. The DMV lists a Driver Safety phone number, (833) 543-7703, and an online Driver Safety portal. Hearings may be held remotely or in person.
ARREST AND BOOKING
Glendale police and the city jail
On Glendale streets, DUI arrests are usually made by the Glendale Police Department. Its station is at 131 North Isabel Street, Glendale, CA 91206. The lobby is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on weekends and holidays.
On State Route 134 and State Route 2 (the Glendale Freeway), arrests are usually made by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The CHP Altadena Area lists both roads among those it patrols. Its office is at 2130 Windsor Ave., Altadena, phone (626) 646-0500.
The Glendale City Jail opened in 2005. It has 48 cells and 96 beds. The city describes it as the third busiest municipal jail in Los Angeles County, with about 500 to 700 bookings each month.
The jail also offers a Pay-to-Stay program. The city describes it as an alternative to Los Angeles County Jail for qualified people who have been sentenced to jail time. The city posts an application and a program description. Whether a person qualifies depends on the program’s own requirements.

OUR PUBLISHED RESULTS
Glendale Courthouse results, 2016 and 2018
Our Success Stories page lists two DUI cases at the Glendale Courthouse, one in 2016 and one in 2018. In both cases, the DUI charge was dismissed and the client pleaded to a lesser charge often called a “wet reckless.” A wet reckless is a reckless driving conviction entered with a statement that alcohol or drugs were involved (Vehicle Code 23103.5). It still counts as a prior if there is a new DUI within 10 years.
