Your citation or release papers usually show the date and the court where you must appear. For an adult arrested inside Inglewood, that court is generally the Inglewood Courthouse at 1 Regent Street.
WITHIN 10 DAYS
The 30-day temporary license
If the officer took your California license, the order of suspension you were given usually also works as a temporary license. It is valid for 30 days from the arrest. The DMV also automatically reviews the officer’s sworn report, the suspension order, and any test results. It sets the action aside if it finds no basis for it. A restricted license is not decided at the DMV hearing. It is a separate application to the DMV.

Six were at the Airport Courthouse and five at the Torrance Courthouse, which is in the same court district as Inglewood. In each court case, the DUI charge was dismissed and the client pleaded to a lesser reckless driving charge. Ten of those pleas were to a charge often called a “wet reckless.” A wet reckless is a reckless driving conviction entered with a statement that alcohol or drugs were involved (Vehicle Code 23103.5). It still counts as a prior if there is a new DUI within 10 years. Our files also record fifteen DMV cases under the DMV Driver Safety office in El Segundo, from 2011 to 2026. The Los Angeles County District Attorney lists Inglewood among 10 cities where it does not prosecute misdemeanors. The Inglewood City Attorney’s Office says its Criminal Division prosecutes all state and local misdemeanor violations that occur within the City.
The office says the Criminal Division’s work includes filing complaints, pretrial negotiations, court and jury trials, and appeals.
Felony charges are filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. The court’s directory lists a District Attorney office at the Inglewood Courthouse, phone (310) 419-5182.

The department’s Traffic Unit has a lieutenant, a sergeant, four motor officers, two accident investigation officers, and a traffic detective.
On freeways, DUI arrests are usually made by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The CHP says its West Los Angeles Area office serves Inglewood, and it names Interstate 405 among that office’s freeways. The office is at 6300 Bristol Parkway, Culver City, phone (424) 577-8700.

The license case is not handled at the courthouse. A DMV Driver Safety hearing officer decides it.
To get a hearing before the suspension takes effect, ask within 10 days of receiving the DMV notice. The notice is usually given at the arrest. The DMV lists a Driver Safety phone number, (833) 543-7703, and an online Driver Safety portal. Hearings may be held remotely or in person.

LOCAL ENFORCEMENT
Checkpoints announced by the Inglewood police
The Inglewood Police Department announces DUI and driver’s license checkpoints in advance. The most recent notice we found was for Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. An earlier notice was for February 15, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Both notices said the checkpoint would be inside city limits and did not name the street. The department says it selects checkpoint locations from data on impaired driving crashes.
In November 2023, the city announced a $270,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The department said the grant would fund DUI checkpoints and patrols. It also listed officer training in field sobriety testing and drug recognition. The grant program was scheduled to run through September 2024.
The city says more than 200,000 vehicles travel its 185 miles of streets every day. Its Traffic Unit lists driving under the influence among the leading causes of traffic collisions.
