DUI DEFENSE FOR FULLERTON ARRESTS
A courthouse shared by eight cities
The North Justice Center is in Fullerton. Orange County’s Court Designation List also assigns criminal cases from seven other cities to it. They are Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, La Habra, La Palma, Placentia, and Yorba Linda. Always go to the justice center named on your citation, release papers, or arraignment letter.
Misdemeanor DUI cases from Fullerton are generally prosecuted by the Orange County District Attorney. Anaheim misdemeanors are prosecuted by the Anaheim City Attorney instead.
Our published results do not include a case at the North Justice Center. They include four DUI cases at other Orange County justice centers, from 2016 to 2026. Our only office is in Los Angeles, at 3810 Wilshire Blvd.

Your license
The DMV hearing is separate
The North Justice Center does not decide what happens to your driver’s license. A DMV Driver Safety hearing officer does.
To get a hearing before the suspension takes effect, ask within 10 days of receiving the DMV notice. The notice is usually given at the arrest.
The DMV lists a Driver Safety phone number, (833) 543-7703, and an online Driver Safety portal. Hearings may be held remotely or in person.
LANGUAGE HELP
Interpreters, and what is in writing
According to the court, interpreters are free of charge in all criminal, traffic, and juvenile cases. You can ask at the Criminal Division clerk’s office, or in the courtroom on the hearing date.
For court reporter and interpreter services, the court’s phone line is (657) 622-6878, option 6. When an in-person interpreter is not readily available, the court may use video remote interpreting.
Written help is more limited. The court’s Limited English Proficiency Plan (revised 2018) says its bilingual staff speak Spanish and Vietnamese. Its written handouts and brochures are offered in Spanish and Vietnamese.
Attorney Jeff Yeh speaks English and Mandarin Chinese, along with basic Japanese and Korean; a Japanese-speaking secretary and a Korean interpreter can help when needed.
OFFICIAL FIGURES
Fullerton crash and arrest numbers for 2023
For 2023, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) counted 85 people killed or injured in alcohol-involved crashes in Fullerton. It also listed 299 DUI arrests in the city.
OTS compares Fullerton with other California cities of 100,001 to 250,000 people (62 cities in all). Fullerton ranked 23rd for alcohol-involved victims and 45th for DUI arrests, where 1st is the highest.
City rankings do not count crashes on freeways and state highways where the city has no jurisdiction.
In October 2021, the Fullerton Police Department announced a $280,000 grant from OTS. The department said the grant would fund a police traffic services program.
